Lita - brief history
I was born, educated and still live in Bolton.
Always doodling and crayoning in colouring books as a kid, I did an A’ level in Art and then went on to do a foundation course at Bolton Art College.
However life got a bit in the way and I did not pursue an arty career straight away. It was many years later when I did a really detailed drawing for my mum for her 60th birthday that I got the bug again.
In the early noughties I decided to try to teach myself to paint and then to develop my own painting styles.
My inspiration comes from diverse subject matter but I particularly like light and shade, contrast, shapes, perspective and angles. In fact these aspects heavily influence my abstract cityscapes and landscapes. Colour is usually a lucky consequence.
I live near the Bolton Bury canal network and the beautiful countryside around Rivington, and scenes from both have featured in much of my work (and my morning runs). Having been an avid visitor to the Ribble Valley for more than 30 years I have recently based some of my works on the feelings I get whilst jogging through the rainy Lancashire countryside.
I suffered from acute heart failure in 2009 (whilst out running near Barrow Bridge in Bolton!) and in 2012 had to have a major operation to remove a tumour the size of a small grapefruit from my kidney. So now I appreciate and enjoy every day that I am able to splash paint around…
